Madison, WI – Wisconsin running back Montee Ball, who tied the NCAA record with 39 touchdowns this season, is returning to school for his senior season.
Ball said in a news conference that he was mentally prepared to enter the NFL Draft, but wants to play another year at Wisconsin to become stronger and faster and to earn his degree.
"I believe it's a win-win situation," Ball said.
Ball was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, finishing fourth in the balloting, and was a consensus first-team All-American for a star-making season that filled the stat sheet.
He led the nation with 1,923 rushing yards, the seventh-best total in Big Ten history, and ran for 33 touchdowns. He also had 24 catches for 306 yards and six more scores.
Wisconsin (11-3) lost the Rose Bowl to Oregon on Monday, but Ball rushed for a touchdown to tie Barry Sanders' FBS record.
