Hawks' Smith has sprained ankle
Atlanta, GA – Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith suffered a sprained right ankle during Friday's season opener against the Houston Rockets and will miss Sunday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Smith played nearly 42 minutes in a 109-102 loss on Friday and totaled 18 points and 10 rebounds. The swingman has never missed more than 13 regular- season games during his previous eight seasons.
Like Smith, center Johan Petro will not travel to Oklahoma City as he continues rehabbing a lower back injury that kept him out Atlanta's season opener.
