Hantuchova ousted; Paszek reaches semis in Quebec
Quebec City, QC – Top seed Daniela Hantuchova suffered a quarterfinal upset on Friday, while reigning champion Tamira Paszek continued her winning ways at the $220,000 Bell Challenge tennis event.
Unseeded Marina Erakovic, of New Zealand, ousted the Slovakian veteran Hantuchova 6-4, 6-4 at this indoor-hardcourt tournament. Erakovic is rewarded with a semifinal match against the third-seeded Paszek, who handled Britain's Heather Watson 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) in 2 hours, 7 minutes on Day 5.
Paszek defeated American Bethanie Mattek-Sands in last year's finale and has won eight straight main-draw matches here at PEPS Laval University Campus.
The 2011 Bell Challenge titlist will earn $37,000.
