Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - Montreal Canadiens defenseman Davis Drewiske underwent shoulder surgery on Wednesday that is expected to keep him sidelined for the majority of the season.
Drewiske initially hurt his shoulder during training camp and has yet to appear in a game for the Canadiens this season. The 28-year-old had been signed by Montreal to a two-year contract extension back in June.
The Canadiens announced Wednesday that Drewiske's timetable for recovery is between 5-to-6 months.
Montreal acquired Drewiske from the Los Angeles Kings on April 2 of last season. He appeared in 29 games between the two teams during the lockout- shortened 2013 campaign and recorded two goals, five assists and a plus-three rating.
In 135 career NHL games, Drewiske has notched five goals and 25 assists.
