Recife, Brazil (SportsNetwork.com) - Ricardo Goulart scored twice at the Arena Pernambuco on Sunday to help Cruzeiro ease past Nautico in a 4-1 victory.
Goulart opened the scoring in the ninth minute, but Maikon Leite equalized in the 28th to see the two sides head into the halftime interval level at a goal apiece.
Cruzeiro needed just seven minutes in the second half to get back in front as Goulart's second of the match came in the 52nd minute.
It held up as the game-winning strike, but Everton added a penalty kick in the 57th minute while Mayke Rocha de Oliveira tacked on a fourth goal in the 76th minute to complete the comfortable victory.
Cruzeiro remains atop the Brasileiro table, improving to 59 points on the season. Nautico stays at the bottom of the table on 17 points.
Gilberto and Paulo Baier also netted braces in winning results on Sunday as their two-goal outputs handed Portuguesa a 3-0 defeat of Santos and Atletico PR a 2-1 victory over Coritiba, respectively.
Leandro Damiao scored the lone goal in Internacional's 1-0 defeat of Fluminense on Sunday, while Atletico Mineiro was held scoreless at home in a 0-0 draw with Corinthians.
Also on Sunday, Vasco da Gama picked up a point from a 1-1 draw at Flamengo, Lins and Walter exchanged first-half goals in a 1-1 between Criciuma and Goias, and Fernandao netted the equalizer in Bahia's 1-1 draw with Ponte Preta.
On Saturday, Alex Teles produced the lone goal in Gremio's 1-0 defeat of Botafogo while Antonio Carlos bagged a brace to help Sao Paulo get a 3-2 win over Vitoria.
