NBC is borrowing an idea — and a voice — from football's popular "Red Zone" broadcasts for a digital channel that tries to reflect the breadth and immediacy of busy days at the Winter Olympics.

The "Gold Zone" show has proven to be one of NBC's most popular online offerings. It may be a model for how television presents the Olympics in the future.

The show on Thursday darted around between hockey games, speed skating, curling and the biathlon. At some point, as many as four live competitions were on the screen at the same time.

Tying it all together was Andrew Siciliano, who also hosts the "Red Zone" show on football Sundays for DirecTV.
