Giants put Torres on DL

The San Francisco Giants placed outfielder Andres day disabled list Saturday with a contusion on his lower right leg.

On the season, the 33-year-old is batting just .228 with three home runs and 18 RBI in 85 games

To take his spot on the roster, the team recalled infielder Brandon Belt from Triple-A Fresno.

The Opening Day first baseman for San Francisco, he has a .218 average with two homers and seven RBI over 31 games with the Giants this season. It is his fourth stint with the club in 2011.
