Kevin Ellison made up for an earlier fumble by punching in a touchdown from the four-yard line as Georgia Southern (3-3, 2-2 Southern Conference) rallied in the final minutes to defeat The Citadel 28-21 in the final Southern Conference game between the two schools on Saturday.

The teams combined for three touchdowns and traded the lead in the see-saw final quarter.

Ellison had lost the ball when he was sacked earlier in the period only to have The Citadel's Akeem Garnett return the fumble 36 yards as the Bulldogs (2-5, 2-3 Southern) surged ahead 21-20 on its second score in a two-minute span.

Ellison hit 7 of 10 passes for 138 yards and rushed for a career-high 135 yards, and Jerick McKinnon — already in Georgia Southern's career top 10 for total yards and touchdowns — rushed for a season-best 198 yards and two TDs on Military Appreciation Day.
