FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith is back at the practice field for the first time since being sidelined with a broken jaw after a teammate punched him nearly two weeks ago.

Smith, unlikely to participate in any drills for the next few weeks, is on the field Monday with his red no-contact No. 7 jersey and no helmet. He stretched with the rest of his teammates at the start of practice, and then headed to the trainers' area. He has been attending team meetings at the facility.

Smith's jaw was broken on Aug. 11 when linebacker Ikemefuna Enemkpali punched him in the locker room. Smith was expected to miss six to 10 weeks, and he had surgery to insert metal plates and screws into the jaw on Aug. 13.
