Oberhausen, Germany – IBF champion Daniel Geale won a 12- round split decision over Felix Sturm to take the WBA title in their middleweight unification bout on Saturday.
Geale (28-1) won by scores of 116-112, 116-112, 112-116.
Sturm (37-3-2) suffered his first defeat since 2006.
