St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - Caroline Garcia had a hand in all three wins as France finished off a 3-2 win over the United States on Sunday in their best-of-five Fed Cup World Group playoff.

A day after she straight-setted Sloane Stephens in a singles match, Garcia topped Madison Keys 6-3, 6-4 on Sunday to force a deciding doubles match at Chaifetz Arena on the campus of Saint Louis University.

Garcia and Alize Cornet won the match 7-5, 6-2 over Stephens and Keys to earn France a spot in the Fed Cup World Group next year and deny the Americans the spot.

Stephens bounced back from her loss to Garcia Saturday to top Virginie Razzano 6-2, 6-4 on Sunday.

It was only the second time in 14 meetings the U.S. lost to France, and first time since the 2003 Fed Cup final, when current French captain Amelie Mauresmo led the way.

The U.S. team is captained by Mary Joe Fernandez.
