Florida State freshman John Holland has been suspended from the school's baseball team indefinitely, head coach Mike Martin announced in a statement on Tuesday.

"The young man in question, John Holland, made a serious error in judgment," said Holland. "Due to a violation of team rules, he has been suspended indefinitely. The university will have no further comment on the situation."

According to a report in the Tallahassee Democrat, Holland was arrested and charged with shoplifting at a vendor tent across the street from TD Ameritrade Park, where the Seminoles are playing in the College World Series.

Holland went 1-for-6 with a double, two walks, two RBI and two runs scored as the team's designated hitter in their first two CWS games.

Florida State faces off with UCLA in an elimination game on Tuesday.
