INDIANAPOLIS – Coach Frank Vogel has signed a multiyear contract extension with the Pacers.
Terms of the deal were not immediately available. Vogel and his players were not available for comment Wednesday because they were off following Tuesday night's preseason opener against Minnesota.
The 41-year-old Vogel was entering the final year of his current deal. He took over as interim coach in January 2011, leading the Pacers to the playoffs for the first time in four seasons.
Since then, Indiana has improved its win total each season, culminating in last season's best record in the Eastern Conference. After advancing to the second round of the playoffs in 2012, the Pacers reached the Eastern Conference finals each of the past two seasons before losing to Miami.
Vogel's record is 147-82.
