Kyle Calloway, a former standout offensive lineman for Iowa, died after being hit by a train. He was 29.

Police in Arizona, where Calloway lived, believe he was jogging on the tracks when the train hit him from behind, Tuscon (Ariz.) News Now reported.

"We are all stunned and very saddened to hear of the tragic accident claiming the life of Kyle Calloway," Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said in a statement. "Our heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to Kyle's family and to those who knew him. He was a valued and respected member of our program."

Calloway, a second-team All-Big Ten selection in 2008 and '09, was drafted by Buffalo in the seventh round in 2010 but released in the preseason. His family told the Cedar Rapids Gazette it would donate his brain to the study of the effects of CTE.
