EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) Adrian Peterson's long-awaited return to the field was forgettable, with a measly 31 yards rushing for the Minnesota Vikings in their dreadful season opener at San Francisco.

Moving on to the next one is the familiar weekly message around the NFL, but Peterson had a hard time putting that 20-3 defeat by the 49ers in the past. He was still wearing a frown on his face and wrinkles on his forehead two days later. Finally, Peterson said Thursday, the ''reset button has been pressed.''

The Vikings will host Detroit this weekend. Not only will the game Sunday be their home debut, but this will mark the first time playing in Minnesota for Peterson since Dec. 1, 2013.
