The Philadelphia Flyers signed goaltender Steve Mason to a one-year contract extension on Monday.

No financial terms were disclosed by the club, but multiple reports state it is for $1.5 million.

Mason was acquired at Wednesday's trade deadline from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for goaltender Michael Leighton and a third-round draft pick in 2015.

The 24-year-old made his Philly debut in the third period of Saturday's 4-1 loss at Winnipeg.

Mason was due $3.2 million this season before becoming a restricted free agent in July. Prior to the deal, he was 3-6-1 with a 2.95 goals-against average in 13 games for Columbus this season.
