The Philadelphia Flyers announced on Thursday evening that general manager Paul Holmgren has been released from an area hospital and returned home.

The 55-year-old was involved in a bicycle accident in the New Jersey shore town of Avalon on Labor Day, suffering some broken ribs, a broken shoulder and some cuts on one of his legs and one of his arms which required stitches.

Holmgren is due to start his sixth season and fifth full campaign as GM of the club. He signed a three-year contract extension in January.
