Florida and Michigan to open 2017 season in Arlington

Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Florida and Michigan will open the 2017 football season in the Cowboys Classic at AT&T Stadium.

The contest will take place Sept. 2 and will mark the ninth Cowboys Classic.

It will be Michigan's second visit to the annual season-opening game. The Wolverines dropped a 41-14 decision to Alabama in 2012. Florida will make its first appearance in the contest.

Florida and Michigan have met just twice previously, both in bowl games. The Wolverines won both -- a 38-30 triumph in the 2003 Outback Bowl and a 41-35 victory in the 2008 Capital One Bowl.
