's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands (Sports Network) - Top seed David Ferrer and German Philipp Petzschner will decide the 2012 champion at the UNICEF Open, a final grass-court Wimbledon tuneup.
The 2008 Den Bosch titlist Ferrer held off France's Benoit Paire 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 6-1, while the qualifier Petzschner handled fellow non-seed Xavier Malisse of Belgium 7-5, 7-5 in Friday's semifinals at Autotron Rosmalen.
The world No. 6 Ferrer will appear in his fourth final of 2012, with the first three all coming on clay. The gritty Spaniard titled in Buenos Aires and Acapulco and was a runner-up in Barcelona earlier this year.
The 30-year-old star is 14-15 in his career ATP finals, with his lone grass- court title coming at this Dutch event four years ago.
The 28-year-old Petzschner will play in his third career final, seeking a second title. His lone championship came in Vienna in 2008 and the capable German was a runner-up in Halle last season.
Ferrer and the 145th-ranked Petzschner will meet for the first time on Saturday.
The newest UNICEF champion will collect $85,000.
