Wimbledon, England – David Ferrer reached the third round at Wimbledon for a sixth consecutive year.
The fourth-seeded Ferrer overcame Roberto Bautista Agut, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 on Friday in just the 10th all-Spanish bout at the All England Club and first since 2009.
The match was originally scheduled for Thursday, but it was pushed back due to rain. Four other men's second-round matches that had been postponed or suspended were completed Friday.
Ferrer, the French Open runner-up earlier this month, will next face 26th- seeded Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov, who cruised past Colombia's Santiago Giraldo, 6-4, 7-5, 6-3.
Meanwhile, 13th-seeded German Tommy Haas dismissed Jimmy Wang of Chinese Taipei, 6-3, 6-2, 7-5, 28th-seeded Frenchman Jeremy Chardy battled past German Jan-Lennard Struff, 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-4), and Slovenia's Grega Zemlja outlasted 29th-seeded Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 6-4, 11-9. Chardy will face No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic in the third round.
