Fourth-seeded David Ferrer moved into his eighth straight Grand Slam quarterfinal Monday night with a 7-6 (4), 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (3) victory over No. 18 Janko Tipsarevic.

Ferrer hit 46 winners in a match that lasted three minutes short of four hours on a muggy night at Flushing Meadows.

The Spaniard made his first Grand Slam final earlier this year, when he fell to Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros.

He has been at the quarterfinals or better at every Grand Slam since the start of the 2012 season.
