LONDON – A year after early losses at Wimbledon, past champions Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are eager to return to the heights they once reached with regularity at the grass-court Grand Slam.
Federer, who exited in the second round in 2013, calls himself "a contender" and says Saturday he has "a very good chance" to add to his seven titles at the All England Club.
Nadal wouldn't go that far about his own possibilities. But the two-time Wimbledon winner and three-time runner-up says his left knee "hurts less this year than last year," when he lost in the first round.
The second-seeded Nadal and fourth-seeded Federer could meet in the semifinals. They played each other in every Wimbledon final from 2006-08, with Federer winning the first two, and Nadal the third.
