PARIS (Reuters) - All eyes are on an expected French Open final showdown between claycourt machine Rafael Nadal and the seemingly invincible Novak Djokovic in just over a fortnight's time, but Rafa could not care less for now.
The world number one, beaten in four finals this year by Djokovic, including two on clay, has spent the build-up relaxing with his family and friends and is looking no further than his first round match against American John Isner.
"I stopped a few days (after losing to Djokovic in the Rome Masters final last Sunday)," the left-handed Spaniard told reporters at Roland Garros on Friday. "I played some golf at home. I have been visiting the family."
"I tried to have one dinner with the friends, because I didn't see the friends at all since two months or three months. Just tried to be close to them, my people, for a few days."
Nadal takes on big-serving Isner and while he should devour the American on his favorite clay, he is taking nothing for granted. He is certainly not yet contemplating another clash with man-of-the-year Djokovic on June 5.
"Seriously, I am thinking about Isner," he said.
"Thinking about Djokovic right now would be a big, big mistake, because I don't know if I'm going to ever play this match in this tournament.
"(Isner's) style of game is dangerous. His serve is unbelievable. He can be very dangerous. We will see. I have to be focused all the time."
If he is to reach the final Nadal would possibly have to go past Russian Nikolay Davydenko in the third round, fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco in the fourth and Swede Robin Soderling, the only man to beat him at Roland Garros, in the quarter-finals and Roger Federer in the last four.
