Flowery Branch, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Falcons announced Wednesday that wide receiver Julio Jones will miss the rest of the season.

The 24-year-old Jones hurt his foot during Monday night's 30-28 loss to the New York Jets. He got a second opinion on the injury after initial reports were not encouraging.

Jones will have surgery after Dr. Robert Anderson confirmed his fractured foot.

"Unfortunately, Julio's appointment with the doctor today confirmed our initial findings," Atlanta coach Mike Smith said. "He is scheduled to have a season-ending procedure on Monday."

Jones caught 41 passes for 580 yards and two touchdowns in five games for the 1-4 Falcons this season.

The Falcons picked Jones with the sixth overall pick in the 2011 draft.
