Flowery Branch, GA – The Atlanta Falcons have placed the franchise tag on cornerback Brent Grimes.
After starting all 16 games and earning a Pro Bowl nod thanks to five interceptions and 87 tackles in 2010, Grimes was bothered by a knee injury during the 2011 season and started just 12 games. He had 49 tackles with one interception and missed Atlanta's NFC playoff game against the New York Giants.
Signed by Atlanta as an undrafted free agent out of Division II Shippensburg, Grimes has 13 career interceptions in five NFL seasons.
