WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former star baseball player Roger Clemens has been charged with obstruction of the U.S. Congress, false statements and perjury as part of a probe into testimony he gave about using performance enhancing drugs, according court papers filed on Thursday.

The indictment was handed up by a federal grand jury in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and the case was assigned to Judge Reggie Walton.
