German World Cup veteran David Odonkor has signed with Bundesliga 2 side Alemannia Aachen from Spanish side Real Betis, it was announced Tuesday.

Odonkor, 27, played 16 times for Germany from 2006-08, and made appearances in both the 2006 World Cup and Euro 2008 tournaments.

"His biggest strength remains his incredible pace," Aachen sporting director Erik Meijer said. "We're hoping his positive mentality and desire to play will help take us forward."

Odonkor started his career with Borussia Dortmund, and was at Real Betis from 2006-11. He returns to Germany on a free transfer, after his contract with the Spanish side expired.
