Milan, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - AC Milan announced Friday that the club has signed Michael Essien from Premier League side Chelsea.
The 31-year-old arrives at the San Siro on a free transfer, signing an 18- month deal with the Serie A club, as reported by the Italian press.
Essien, who has also enjoyed stints with Bastia and Lyon, is the first recruit of new Milan coach Clarence Seedorf. The Ghana international is eligible to represent Milan in the Champions League.
