Memphis, TN – Fourth seed Marina Erakovic was a hard-fought quarterfinal victor Thursday at the $220,000 Memphis International tennis event.
New Zealand's Erakovic held off Dutchwoman Michaella Krajicek 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 6-4 on the indoor hardcourts at The Racquet Club of Memphis. Erakovic swatted 13 aces in the 2-hour, 26-minute win.
Erakovic's semifinal opponent on Friday will be Russian Vera Dushevina, who came from behind to beat France's Stephanie Foretz Gacon 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 on Day 5.
Another quarterfinal result saw Italian Alberta Brianti dismiss American Varvara Lepchenko 7-5, 6-3 in 1 hour, 27 minutes.
The 2012 Memphis winner will collect $37,000.
