Liverpool, England – Liverpool announced Friday that it has secured the signature of defender Jose Enrique
Enrique, 25, joins Liverpool from Newcastle United after four years with the Magpies. He had previously played with Villarreal before joining Newcastle in 2007.
Enrique becomes Liverpool's fifth signing of the summer, following Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing, and Doni to the Anfield club.
Liverpool open its English Premier League season at home on Saturday when it hosts Sunderland at Anfield.
