Guingamp, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Carlos Eduardo fired home five goals on Sunday as Nice rolled to a 7-2 thrashing of Guingamp at the Stade de Roudourou.
Nice entered the match hoping to snap a two-match slide in Ligue 1 play, but things started poorly for the visiting side as Claudio Beauvue opened the scoring after eight minutes.
But falling behind did not faze Nice as Eduardo pulled things level again just four minutes later before giving his side the lead in the 26th minute of play.
Eduardo doubled his output in the 43rd minute to give Nice a 3-1 lead and Alassane Plea scored on the stoke of halftime to give the traveling side a commanding 4-1 lead at the intermission.
It was much of the same for Nice in the second half as Eduardo added goals in the 50th and 65th minutes to make it 6-1 before Ronnie Schwartz pulled back a second goal for Guingamp with 20 minutes to play.
Eric Bautheac capped the rout with a goal two minutes later to wrap up three points for Nice and send the club to seventh place in Ligue 1 with 17 points.
Guingamp, meanwhile, drops to the bottom of the table with nine points from 11 matches played.
Also in Ligue 1 on Sunday, Yoann Gourcuff scored in the 65th minute as Lyon claimed a 1-0 victory over league-leading Marseille at the Stade de Gerland. The loss for Marseille snaps the club's impressive eight-match winning streak in league play.
The result lifts Lyon to third place in the table with 20 points, while Marseille remains at the summit with 25 points.
Mahamadou Habib Habibou and Abdoulaye Doucoure scored on either side of the intermission to lift Rennes to a 2-0 win over Lille at the Stade de la Route de Lorient, while Max-Alain Gradel's goal in the 74th minute held up as the winner for Saint Etienne in a 1-0 result over Metz.
