Gainesville, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel has decided to transfer to Louisiana Tech.

Driskel will be a fifth-year senior and will be eligible next fall.

"I look forward to the upcoming chapter of my life," said Driskel in a statement released through the University of Florida. "I feel this is the best option for me moving forward with my career."

Driskel appeared in nine games for the Gators this past season, including this past Saturday's win over East Carolina in the Birmingham Bowl. He completed 53.8 percent of his passes in 2014 for 1,140 yards with nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions, adding four scores on the ground.

"I have nothing but good things to say about the University of Florida and the football program," Driskel added. "I am grateful for the opportunities that have been presented to me over the course of the past four years. Although things did not play out on the field as I would have liked, I have no regrets on the choice I made to attend UF."

Driskel started 12 games in 2012, helping the Gators to a record of 11-2 with a Sugar Bowl appearance, then started the first three games of the 2013 season before a fractured fibula ended his year in September.

In all, Driskel threw for 3,411 yards with 23 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. He also ran for nine scores.
