Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze will miss Saturday's Champions League final against Bayern Munich due to a nagging hamstring injury.

The club confirmed on Wednesday that Gotze will not be match fit in time to face his future at Wembley Stadium in London, which would have been the 20- year-old's last match in a Dortmund kit as Gotze is set to make a 37-million Euro move to Bayern next season.

"The final was my main aim, and I fought hard for it in the last few weeks," Gotze told the club's official website.

Gotze was back on the practice field for Dortmund on Tuesday, but suffered a recurrence of the issue that forced him out of the second leg of the club's semifinal tie against Real Madrid on April 30.

"I'm incredibly sorry that I can't help the team in this important match," Gotze continued. "I have full confidence in our team and will of course travel with the side to London to support the lads from the side of the pitch."

With Gotze unavailable, Dortmund manager Juergen Klopp will likely turn to Ilkay Gundogan to take his spot behind star Polish striker Robert Lewandowski.
