Luke Donald will not be on hand to defend his title next week at the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic Championship.

One of Donald's children is scheduled to undergo a medical procedure, which will cause Donald to miss the tournament.

Since he is skipping the event, Donald has pledged a significant donation to Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago, which is a Children's Miracle Network hospital.

The former world No. 1 birdied the first six holes of the back nine in the final round last year to rally and win the title. The win also gave Donald the PGA Tour money title, and when he later topped the European Tour Order of Merit, Donald became the first player to top both lists in the same season.
