The Los Angeles Dodgers placed outfielder Matt Kemp on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a mild right hamstring strain.

Kemp was batting .251 with two home runs and 17 RBI over 51 games this season. He missed 51 games last season because of an injured left hamstring.

Los Angeles recalled catcher Tim Federowicz from Triple-A Albuquerque to fill Kemp's roster spot. Federowicz was batting .418 with eight homers and 25 RBI over 21 games with the Isotopes.

Additionally, the Dodgers reinstated right-handed pitcher Stephen Fife from the 15-day disabled list and optioned him to Albuquerque. He made his only start for the Dodgers on April 21 at Baltimore before being retroactively placed on the DL the next day with right shoulder bursitis.
