Utah coach Kyle Whittingham was recently considered the favorite to be next head coach at USC. Gary A. Vasquez Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Utah head coach came into his recent game vs. USC applauding the talent of his opposition, even mentioning that the Trojans could "win out" with impressive play.

The Utes fell to USC, 42-24, ending the undefeated run that brought Utah into the playoff picture at the halfway point. Coach Whittingham said before the game that USC had the most talent in the conference; Whittingham was also considered the favorite for USC's head coach vacancy. How did Utah's recent loss to USC alter the "Whittingham-to-USC" narrative?

According to The Student Section blog, Whittingham shouldn't be on USC's radar for a very different reason.

"Plainly put, USC needs an offense-first head coach and a stud defensive coordinator, not the other way around," writes Natt Zemek, in the report.
