Di Vaio's brace pushes Montreal past DCU

Marco Di Vaio scored twice to help the Montreal Impact snap a two-game losing streak with a 2-1 defeat of D.C. United at the Stade Saputo on Saturday.

Montreal dictated play in the opening period but did not manage to break through until the 43rd minute.

Justin Mapp found space on the right flank before centering a pass to the penalty spot. Felipe Martins feigned a shot and let it run to Di Vaio who slotted the ball into the back of the net.

D.C. managed to equalize in the 81st minute through Conor Doyle, but Montreal restored its lead just two minutes later when Di Vaio completed his brace by firing home Patrice Bernier's helper.

It proved to be the winner as Montreal exacted a bit of revenge on D.C. following United's 3-1 defeat of the Impact at RFK Stadium a fortnight ago.

Montreal improves to 38 points on the season while United remains stuck on 13 points.
