Deportivo returned to La Liga with a 2-0 triumph over Osasuna as Riki and Nelson Oliveira scored goals in the second half.

Riki had a great opportunity to put Deportivo ahead before halftime, but he failed to convert from the penalty spot as he saw his effort strike the post.

However, Riki atoned for his miss shortly after the break by scoring from 18 yards with a well-struck shot that gave Osasuna goalkeeper Andres Fernandez no chance.

Deportivo created most of the scoring opportunities in the game, but the win wasn't secure until the final moments as Oliveira tallied a nice goal of his own from just outside the area.

Rayo Vallecano 1, Granada 0

Madrid, Spain - Rayo Vallecano waited until the final moments to steal a 1-0 win against Granada on Monday, getting its new campaign off to a winning start.

Granada's Inigo Lopez headed the ball against the crossbar midway through the first half, while Fabian Orellana went close with 20 minutes to play for the visitors.

But Rayo had the final chance and made it count as Roberto Trashorras lined up for a free kick in the final seconds and curled the ball into the upper corner of the net for a dramatic win.

Valladolid 1, Real Zaragoza 0

Aragon, Spain - Oscar Gonzalez scored just before halftime and Valladolid held on for a 1-0 win over Real Zaragoza on Monday to kick off its La Liga campaign.

Omar Ramos set up the goal for Oscar by finding the striker with a pass in the center of the penalty area that he tucked away with a right-footed effort.

Zaragoza goalkeeper Roberto Gago kept his side in the match after the break when Apono was called for a handball inside his own box.

Valladolid's Victor Perez stepped to the spot, but Gago dove to his left and tipped the ball off the post.

However, Zaragoza was unable to seriously threaten the Valladolid net, giving the promoted side a positive start.
