Cody Demps scored 16 points to lead Sacramento State to an easy 72-42 win over Division III Simpson College on Wednesday night.

The Hornets (2-1) shot 55 percent and outrebounded the Red Hawks 39-20. Demps hit 5 of 7 field goals and 5 of 7 free throws.

Reserve Zach Mills hit all five of his shots for 11 points to go with six rebounds and Dylan Garrity had 10 points. The Hornets shot 64 percent in the first half to race to a 45-17 lead and finished at 55 percent.

Ian Corella led Simpson (3-6) with 15 points.

After Corella's jumper 5 minutes in put Simpson within 11-7, Sacramento State went on a 22-2 run to lead 33-9 10 minutes later. The Hornets had a 17-2 difference in points off turnovers in the first half and finished with a 40-14 advantage in interior scoring.
