Vicente Del Bosque says he is standing down after eight years in charge of Spain, having guided the team to World Cup and European titles.

The 65-year-old coach says he has "no intention of continuing" in the job after Spain's European title defense ended in the round of 16 with a loss to Italy on Monday. His contract was due to expire next month.

Del Bosque, who announced his departure on Spanish radio on Thursday, delivered Spain's first World Cup title in 2010 and followed it by winning the 2012 European Championship.
