The Miami Heat are still regrouping after losing franchise cornerstone Dwyane Wade, who bolted to his hometown Bulls after failing to come to terms with the Heat.
After reaching deals with Heat lifer Udonis Haslem, shooting guard Wayne Ellington and forward James Johnson on Sunday, the Heat reportedly are now matching the four-year, $50 million offer sheet for unproven Tyler Johnson.
Wade opted to leave the Heat after playing his first 13 years in the NBA in Miami, agreeing to a reported two-year, $47.5 million deal last week.
Johnson has played sparingly his first two seasons in the NBA, averaging just 7.4 points and 2.8 rebounds in 68 career games. He has just seven career starts, but the Heat decided to match the offer sheet the Brooklyn Nets gave Johnson, who averaged 8.7 points last season.
Johnson was undrafted out of California State University, Fresno. The 24-year-old shooting guard missed a majority of last season after undergoing shoulder surgery.
