NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Ed Daniel scored 21 points to lead four Murray State players in double figures in a 74-65 win over Tennessee State on Thursday night.
Daniel was 8 of 10 from the field and 5 of 5 from the free-throw line as the Racers (16-6, 8-3 Ohio Valley Conference) gave their coach his 100th win at Murray State. Billy Kennedy, in his fifth season with the Racers, became the seventh coach in Murray State history to reach the century mark.
The Racers held off a late comeback by the Tigers (10-12, 7-5), who lost their third straight.
Murray State led 65-53 with 6:38 to play, but Tennessee State scored nine straight to pull within 65-62 with 2:16 to play. The Racers then outscored the Tigers 9-3 the rest of the way.
Isacc Miles added 13 points, Isaiah Canaan 11 and B.J. Jenkins 10 for Murray State.
Kenny Moore led the Tigers with 17 points and Robert Covington added 14.
