FORT WORTH, Texas – Dallas Baptist batted around during an eight-run first inning and went on to hold off Oral Roberts 11-9 on Monday night to win the NCAA Fort Worth Regional.
The Patriots (42-18), in their sixth season as an NCAA Division I independent, advanced to their first super regional.
Ryan Behmanesh had three hits, including two doubles, and two RBIs for Dallas Baptist, which sent 11 batters to the plate in the first inning. Jason Krizan, Behmanesh, Kenny Hatcher, Austin Elkins, Josh Wilson, Tyler Robbins and Landon Anderson all had run-scoring hits.
Oral Roberts put the tying run on second in the eighth with the heart of its order coming up, but closer Chris Haney struck out Chris Elder and Brandon King to end it.
King had a grand slam and Edler drove in three runs for the Golden Eagles (39-22).
