The Chicago Cubs activated pitcher Blake Parker from the 60-day disabled list and designated pitcher Alex Hinshaw for assignment on Tuesday.

Parker, who had been sidelined since June 2 with a stress reaction in his right elbow, has no record after tossing 4 1/3 scoreless innings this season.

The Cubs claimed Hinshaw off waivers from the San Diego Padres on Aug. 19. In his most recent appearance with Chicago on Aug. 27, Hinshaw surrendered five runs on three home runs without recording an out against the Brewers.

In 33 games in 2012, including two with the Cubs, Hinshaw is 0-1 with a 6.04 earned run average.
