Rashaun McLemore scored 26 points, and his two free throws with 6 seconds remaining allowed Cal State Northridge to escape with a 70-69 win over UC Santa Barbara on Saturday night.

The Matadors nearly blew a five-point lead in the final 14 seconds, but McLemore was fouled by Santa Barbara's Justin Joyner and sank both free throws for a 70-66 lead. Orlando Johnson's 3-pointer at the buzzer made it a one-point loss for the Gauchos (11-8, 4-4). Johnson finished with a game-high 28 points and made 14 of 15 free-throw attempts.

Lenny Daniel had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Matadors.

Northridge played catch-up basketball for most of the first 20 minutes, falling behind 30-22 before a 10-2 run got the Matadors even at 32 by halftime.
