Creighton proving to be tough to beat when sharpshooter Ethan Wragge's 3-pointers are falling
OMAHA, Neb. – When 3-point specialist Ethan Wragge (RAH'-gee) is on, Creighton is almost unbeatable. When he's not, well, the Bluejays aren't.
The Bluejays' plan against Cincinnati (22-11) Friday in the NCAA Midwest Regional in Philadelphia will be the same as in any other game. The Bluejays (27-7) want to get Doug McDermott and Gregory Echenique established inside first, which will allow the 6-foot-7 Wragge to do what he does best behind the 3-point line.
Wragge is hitting 43.5 percent of his attempts. The Bluejays are 10-0 when Wragge scores in double figures. Creighton is 28-1 the past three seasons when Wragge shooters better than 50 percent from long distance.
In Creighton's 27 wins this season, Wragge shot 48.3 percent. That dropped to 22 percent in the Bluejays' seven losses.
