Torrey Craig scored 17 points to lead five players in double figures, and fifth-seeded South Carolina Upstate topped fourth-seeded Jacksonville 76-62 Thursday night in the opening round of the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament.

Ty Greene added 14 points, Ricardo Glenn 12, while Adrian Rodgers and Babtunde Olumuyima tallied 11 apiece for SC Upstate, which will play Mercer in the semifinals Saturday.

SC Upstate (16-16) led 7-6 before Greene converted two free throws that sparked a 14-3 run for the Spartans. Jacksonville (14-18) answered the run with back-to-back layups to get back within eight, but the Spartans used another run, this time 11-2, to take the lead for good.

SC State shot 52.6 percent (30 of 57), compared to 41 percent (23 of 56) for Jacksonville, and dished 15 assists. The Spartans also played tough defense, blocking seven shots and recording 11 steals.

Jacksonville was led by Jarvis Haywood's 16 points.
