Cowboys rookie defensive back J.J. Wilcox was back at practice Wednesday, four days after his mother's funeral.

Wilcox had been away from the team for 10 days.

He left from Cowboys camp in California on Aug. 11 to go home to Georgia, where his mother died two days later after a long bout with lupus.

Wilcox says it's a relief to be back with his teammates and having fun, especially after the difficult time at home.

Coach Jason Garrett says it seemed like Wilcox had a good practice and was in a good frame of mind.

Wilcox, a third-round pick from Georgia Southern, is expected to play in Saturday night's preseason game against Cincinnati. He missed last weekend's game at Arizona.
