Irving, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett announced Thursday that middle linebacker Sean Lee has undergone successful surgery to repair a likely season-ending torn ACL he sustained during an organized team activity session.
The Cowboys have yet to make a determination on Lee's status for the upcoming season, keeping open the possibility that the fifth-year standout could possibly return prior to the conclusion of the 2014 campaign.
Lee injured his left knee while being blocked by rookie guard Zack Martin during a contact drill on the first day of OTA's back on May 27.
It's the latest in a series of injuries that have limited Lee to just 17 games over the past two seasons. He played in only six games in 2012 while dealing with a toe problem that required surgery, then missed five contests last season due to a hamstring injury.
Lee did make a significant impact when on the field, recording four interceptions and 99 tackles over 11 games in 2013.
