MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Cooper Rush threw three touchdowns passes to Titus Davis, his third for a 9-yard score to break a 27-all tie, and Central Michigan held on to beat Miami (Ohio) 34-27 on Saturday.
Rush's game-winning throw to Davis on first down capped a 7-play, 70-yard drive with 10:03 to play. Miami threatened twice more, but David Frazier fumbled at Central Michigan's 37 with 6:03 left. The RedHawks' next drive stalled at the Chippewas' 2 when Andrew Hendrix threw an incomplete pass to Sam Martin on the final play.
Rush and Davis connected for two, 6-yard scoring strikes in the first half. Rush was 16 of 23 for 218 yards, and Davis finished with eight catches for 102 yards for Central Michigan (7-4, 5-2 Mid-American Conference).
The game was tied three times with the RedHawks leading once, 10-7, midway through the second.
Hendrix threw two touchdown passes to lead Miami (2-9, 2-5).
